WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item Level Upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrades used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrader mod owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from a different set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1.
