This is a great choice to consider if you're looking for a basic robot cleaner without the advanced features of other models. It was great at picking up pet hair, Cheerios and kitty litter on hardwood floors.

It's fast and precise in mapping rooms, and avoids obstacles well. It can also be operated manually with the remote included.

1. Roomba from iRobot

The s9+ is the most effective robot vacuum we've tested for cleaning both hard floors and carpeting. It has the strongest suction of any robotic cleaner on the market and is a great choice for eliminating pet hair. It can also be programmed to make multiple passes or alter the amount of suction based on the size of the room, something we haven't seen on other models. The app lets you modify the way it operates and also set the time the time when it will begin working so that you can be present in the room as it moves around.

The smart mapping feature generates a precise map of your house to assist the s9+ to navigate and create efficient routes. It is also self-emptying so you don't need to be present to assist. It also recharges itself mid-clean. In our tests the s9+ blasted through obstacles such as tables and power cables easily and never lost its charge or got stuck. It doesn't have the hazard-avoidance capabilities of newer models, and can become stuck on rug tassels or other obstacles it isn't able to see.

Unlike most circular robots, the s9+ has a flat front and has an angled front that lets it to get into corners more easily than round models. When it recognizes that you're on a floor that requires mopping it switches to the standard cleaning mode and activates the robot arm with an attached pad. It scrubbed the floor with a gentle touch, leaving my floors looking and feeling like they had been thoroughly cleaned.

When it's done mopping the j7+ goes back to its dock and recharges. It then drives back to where it left off, and continues to clean. It lasts for around 85 minutes in my home, plus or minus a few minutes. This is less than the s9+, but it's still impressive for a robot that does both vacuuming and mopping.

As with other iRobot cleaners, the j7+ detects obstacles in its path and eliminates them. It also features what iRobot calls Cliff Detect technology, which prevents it from falling down the stairs. It's an excellent security feature for families with children.

The j7+ has an onboard bin that is small and will require to go back to the dock and empty itself often if you live in an extensive home. The j7+ can be tucked away easily. The Clean Base that comes with it functions as a charging dock, an external dust bin, and an internal one for the j7+ to deposit dirt into.

3. Shark iQ

This robot can vacuum carpets and hard surfaces simultaneously. Matrix Clean Navigation is also included, which makes use of grids to cover your entire home. The vacuum emptys itself after every run and you can check its current battery's life and condition by looking at two lights at the top. Press the button to unlock the bin and empty it. It can hold up to an entire week's worth of garbage and is easy to empty from anywhere in the home.

Despite its impressive performance on plain carpet, this model does have some shortcomings on low-pile carpet and is unable to take in large pieces of debris as its dirt compartment gets full. But it's well built and has a long battery life, which you can extend using the energy-efficient 'Eco' mode.

The Shark IQ is compatible both with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant which means you can control it with your voice. The app lets you name your robot (mine is Sharky Shark), remotely activate and schedule its runs and also view your cleaning history, as well as any errors you may have received. The Roomba 694 by irobot mop and vacuum combo is not as advanced as the i7, which can self-empty its own dust compartment and doesn't come with a mapping system, nor the capability to create virtual boundary markers. It is more robust and has lower recurring costs than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also has a larger dustbin and charges more quickly.

5. Eufy 11s

The Eufy 11s is a compact, attractive robot vacuum that offers an excellent value for the money. It sucks pet hair well, has a large dirt compartment and can run for a long time on one charge. However, it's difficult to maintain and has issues with navigation. It's not equipped with an app companion to it and voice control, however it does have an easy-to-use remote. It doesn't even send you a notification when the dust box is full, so you'll have to check it frequently.

The eufy comes with many advantages over the Bobsweep Bob Pro however in certain areas it's not as efficient as the iRobot Roomba 694. The irobot vacuum cleaner Roomba 694 is much better constructed, has less parts to maintain, a HEPA-filter and lasts longer on a single charge and offers superior cleaning performance for floors with no floor as well as high-pile and low-pile. It also has an improved navigation system which can navigate through obstacles, and includes advanced automation features, such as boundary stripes.

The iRobot Roomba 900 Series is an ideal choice for the majority of users, though the eufy still makes a good option.
