UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement upvc window handles. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing window handles them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This kind door handle is available in a wide range of styles and finishes. The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline, and they use the same screws and spindle to fix them. They are easily fitted on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower frames, in which the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also an excellent option for doors where the latch could be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handles are operated by one spindle or two spindles inline or offset. They are commonly employed on UPVC doors with double glazed door handle (site) glazing and come in a variety of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability to serve its intended purpose.

All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have a spring, which solves the issue of handles for doors that slide out of their horizontal position when not in use.

When choosing the replacement upvc door handles UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement may also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically rectangular or round in design with an internal lever and external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position after not in use, instead of hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the building. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are hand-operated which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder's case. This reveals pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock, allowing them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this depends on how your doors and handle are utilized. For instance, exterior doors require a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that can improve security, for instance anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place, but when this isn't possible, you can take it off to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is important that it is not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in a different direction. This will help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.

Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent kind of attack on cylinders, where the break line in the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a much faster and easier way to gain access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after usage. These handles used to have no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple part is the best solution to address this issue. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You must have a hole specifically cut in the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the door handle backplate of various kinds of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.
